Helping poor Indian's crack IIT

BBC has this very inspiring story about how a few people give Indians from the poorest rung of society a chance to get into IIT (Indian Institute of Technology). Those of you are familiar with IIT, know how huge an achievement this is. Those who are not familiar with IIT – they are looked at IIT = MIT + Harvard + Princeton to give you an idea. There are many rankings and depends on what you believe as comparing apples and oranges is always difficult.

Santosh’s (the guy in the BBC’s story) brothers along with the rest of his family are illiterate, and I just cannot get over the quote from one of his brother:

We don’t know what my brother Santosh has passed, but people say he will get a respectful job and earn good money when he starts working.

Of course, there are people who are not happy about the whole situation. And before you ask, no, I did not go to IIT – I am not in the same league.

This blog is my personal blog and while it does reflect my experiences in my professional life, this is just my thoughts. Most of the entries are technical though sometimes they can vary from the wacky to even political – however that is quite rare. Quite often, I have been asked what’s up with the “gibberish” and the funny title of the blog? Some people even going the extra step to say that, this is a virus that infected their system (ahem) well. [:D] It actually is quite simple, and if you have still not figured out then check out this link – whats in a name?
